MUSC Plastic Surgeons Target the Nerves That Trigger Migraine Headaches

The Advanced Migraine Surgery Program (AMSP) at MUSC offers relief to individuals who suffer from migraine headaches and occipital neuralgia. One of the treatment options is surgery that relieves pressure on the facial and scalp nerves that can cause migraine headaches. In this video, Dr. Kevin O. Delaney, Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery and one of the plastic surgeons who perform this surgery, describes the procedure and the overwhelmingly positive patient outcomes.

Luca Paoletti, M.D., a pulmonologist at the Medical University of South Carolina, discusses best practices for diagnosing (eg, spirometry, alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency testing) and managing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Pulmonary rehabilitation is recommended for all COPD patients. Bronchodilators are the mainstay of medication therapy, and, for patients with medication-refractory COPD, lung volume reduction surgery and lung transplant are options.
