A Dutch-German medical research team led by Harald Schmidt from Maastricht University, Netherlands, and Christoph Kleinschnitz, University of Würzburg, Germany, in cooperation with Helmholz Zentrum München, has discovered that an enzyme is responsible for the death of nerve cells after a stroke.
