On June 7, 2011, Arizona residents and employees from Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center gathered at dusk for the lighting of the outpatient facility's architectural feature called the "lantern of hope." During the day, the four-story, steel lantern will be illuminated by the sun. At night, its glow will serve as a beacon of hope for cancer patients and their families.
