Not to mention all animal and plant life like the microscopic Picoplankton to the grate big blue whales. Although not all marine biologist study the same thing; some may focus on certain organisms while other specialize in something else. For example some may focus on Marine ethology, which is the behavior of marine animals , or Ichthyology meaning the study of fishes, both salt and freshwater species. Just like all other scientist, the purpose for studying a specific area is to ask the four important questions which is, the what, when, where, why and how. To do so they base this on four scientific methods which are: Characterization (observation) ,Hypothesis (a theoretical, hypothetical explanation) Prediction (logical deduction from the hypothesis)Experiment (test of all of the above). so hopefully, when following each of these steps marine biologist can find grate results so they can share it with the rest of the people. It has its benefits such as getting other opinions from each field, being able to help each other out when finding research and coming up with various ideas. Inter-disciplinary research is very useful when finding out information and is used on a daily basis. Bioligists contends that Mitochondria of a cell were a free-living bacteria. therefore, respiration in bacteria and mitochondria take place in the membranes. More over, Eukeryotes cell´s DNA are contained in the nucleus but the mitochondrion contain a small amount of its own. It is believed by biologists that the motochondrion were bacteria that came to live inside other cells. Also small cells have permanent residence in larger cells. On the other hand, Hosts cells can not use oxygen in respiration. They transfer their symbiotic bacteria´s gene into their nuclei. Lastly, Chloroplasts organelles, performing photosynthesis are thought to brought symbiotic bacteria. I agree with Justin Mercado because prokaryotes came first than eukaryotes and in the text it is said that prokaryotes were fossils existing billion years ago before eukaryotes appeared. Also that Eukaryote DNA is contained in the nuclues and what he states about the cell division. On the other hand, this text was really helpful I review great things about cells that came to my mind when I had biology so now I know much about prokaryotes, eukaryotes, mitochondria , and chloroplasta and its characteristics.
