Mr. John Turbeville has been a Professor of Geology and Oceanography at Mira Costa College for the past 16 years, and taught honors courses for 12 years. His undergraduate was completed at SDSU and graduate work at the University of New Orleans. Before working in academia, Mr. Turbeville worked for 14 years as a Petroleum Geologist/Geophysicist in the Rocky Mountains and the Gulf Coast regions, and overseas in Africa, Indonesia, and Europe. He also worked for 3 years as a Hydrogeologist in San Diego County. He is a Registered Professional Geologist in California. He very much enjoys teaching and interacting with students. Mr. Turbeville is a mentor and advisor to his students through their academic advancement and provides input for their future career endeavors.
