Health information technology (health IT) is a broad field that includes many components found in the domains of biomedical/medical/health informatics, health care safety and quality improvement, and public health. Primarily the field focuses on the adoption, implementation, and evaluation of health IT systems in clinical settings, including policy questions. Technologies include, but are not limited to, electronic health records, telehealth, computerized provider order entry, and health information exchange.
This community is open to researchers interested in addressing health care information, safety, quality, cost, and efficiency issues using technology. The forum is moderated by a member of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's (AHRQ) National Resource Center for Health IT.
