Community farms are able to provide many positive contributions to society such as providing nutritious foods, improving the quality of life for the people involved, and offering education to the public on the processes of how food is grown. Although community farms provide many benefits to society, it is important not to neglect the environmental impact of farms to the surrounding landscape and document the sustainability level. This research study measured the degree of sustainability and investigated current environmental practices of New Roots Community Farm. The study’s aim was twofold: to improve the understanding of land impact of community farms and suggest further conservation methods. Findings cemented the fact community farms do have an influence on the natural environment. The influence proves to be highly sustainable and beneficial for both natural and human systems because of its ability for incorporating conservation and rehabilitation practices within its landscape.
