Here we describe our motivations to investigate the size effect on the interaction of gold nanoparticles with blood plasma proteins; we also briefly describe the photophysical techniques utilized and our major findings such as the effect of nanoparticle size on the protein binding association constant, protein conformational changes and protein-nanoparticle complex aggregation state.
