Mario Mandalà, a Medical Oncologist and Clinical Assistant in the Unit of Medical Oncology, from Riuniti Bergamo Hospital in Bergamo, Italy, comments on the results of a study, appearing in Mayo Clinic Proceedings, February 2011 issue ( available at: http://tinyurl.com/4ks8oue ) which, by using a prospective, monoinstitutional database with individual data, demonstrates that the socioeconomic status is associated with breslow thickness, disease free and overall survival in stage I-II primary cutaneous melanoma. The main oncological research focuses on melanoma and thromboembolic complications in cancer patients.
