SciVee PubCasts Enliven Journal Content and Drive Higher Online Views
San Diego, CA—SciVee, the leading rich media platform solutions provider to the scientific, technical and medical market, announced today that The American Journal of Preventive Medicine (AJPM), published by Elsevier, has signed a subscription agreement to deploy SciVee products and services. This agreement follows a successful trial which demonstrated that SciVee solutions make scientific and scholarly content much more engaging and thereby drive higher online traffic and reader interest. “SciVee provides an innovative multimedia experience that scientific, technical, medical, and scholarly publishers need in order to attract and retain readers,” said Sarah Kane, publisher of AJPM at Elsevier. “It’s also very important that its services are cost-effective and easy to implement so that they can be adopted by many authors and publishers.”
AJPM is using SciVee primarily to produce a PubCast, which is a synchronized video abstract that enables a reader to see the author discuss highlighted sections of a journal article in a full multimedia presentation online. It provides a much more dynamic way to absorb and retain knowledge than a text-only abstract. It promotes greater interest in the author’s work and increases its impact through broad distribution on the Internet. “Each SciVee PubCast drew great traffic and significantly increased the total exposure of an article, and we saw a measurable increase in abstract views of the PubCasted article as well,” said Dr. Kevin Patrick, editor-in-chief of AJPM. “Our authors and readers have also responded favorably to PubCasts.”
“We are honored to have Elsevier, one of the world’s leading publishers, give SciVee their vote of confidence. We believe that this is a strong statement about the value of SciVee’s products and business model,” Ken Liu, SciVee’s VP of Business Development said.
