A tentative to replicate the Stomach Phisical movements in presence of solid dose ingestion, led to the development of a “proof of concept” computerized instrument (using RTP protocol and an IV-IVO library) successfully used during the evaluation of the novel extended release drug delivery platform of Superporous Hydrogel (SPH) at Kos Pharmaceuticals, Inc. This movie present the prototype instrument and the successful tentative (Kos Value Award 2004) to measure the physicochemical characteristics and the drug release profile of the SPH platforms (drug loaded), replicating all seven types of stomach wave structure and their intensity, as reported by many published studies. Using an IV-IVO library of variable stomach parameters, the instrument may be able to help expedite the animal studies and the formulation of solid/semisolid dosage design in initial development stages.
The superporous hydrogel (SPH) formulation is a Abbott Laboratories, Inc, drug delivery patented platform (http://www.faqs.org/patents/agn/1316)
