Cisplatin is an emerging new treatment modality of breast cancer,
after failure of first line chemotherapy. Development of a resistant
phenotype is a major obstacle in clinical cisplatin therapy. In order
to understand the mechanisms leading to cisplatin resistance, we
investigated the effect of cisplatin on the gene expression profile of
MCF-7 cells.
Gene expression microarrays were used to generate whole genome
expression data. To trace the dynamics of cisplatin resistance development,
we used a time series of cDNA microarrays in a way, as
reported for lung-cancer [1]. As the emergence of a resistant phenotype
is a time-consuming process, we present a long-term kinetic
(24 weeks) to follow the time-course of cisplatin resistance manifestation
