Systematic Analysis of Human 5’UTR Introns Reveals Their Importance in Expression

Abstract:  These results suggest that 5’UTR introns enhance gene expression in a position and length dependent manner in humans. Overrepresentation of 5’UTR introns among regulatory genes suggests that they a have a disproportionate impact on gene regulation. Our results also have implications for understanding the evolution of 5’UTR introns.
