Abstract:  A brief discussion of the motivation, intended audience and contents of the book Structural Bioinformatics 2nd Edition Edited by Jenny Gu and Philip Bourne and published in April 2009 by Wiley Blackwell. Bioinformatics is the analysis and interpretation of the large amount of digital data being generated across all fields of biology. Structural bioinformatics focuses on that subset of data which pertains to protein, DNA and RNA structure and how it improves our understanding of living systems.
